Description
The Praxiline Structural Drafting Stencil Set is designed to make common structural shapes and linework faster to draw, easier to repeat, and more consistent across hand sketches, markups, calculations, field notes, and preliminary details.
One set includes six stencils
Each package contains six reusable stencil pieces: one W-shape stencil, one channel stencil, one angle stencil, one structural linework and detail stencil, and two dashed-line guides.
Draft common structural elements
The set provides guides for:
- W-shapes for wide-flange beams and columns
- Channels
- Angles
- Common structural-detail linework and symbols
- Dashed straightedges for hidden, overhead, and reference linework
Two marked drafting scales
Features are provided for commonly used structural-detail scales:
- 1½″ = 1′-0″
- 3″ = 1′-0″
The marked scales may also be used as proportional references for certain conceptual sketches at other scales. See the Praxiline tutorial for guidance on proportional conversions and their limitations.
Designed for clear, repeatable sketches
Rather than repeatedly constructing common shapes from individual lines, the stencil provides recognizable structural representations that can be quickly positioned, traced, labeled, and incorporated into a detail.
It is useful for conceptual sketches, calculations, redlines, field notes, coordination work, educational use, and other situations where clear structural hand drafting is useful.
Product details
- Material: PLA
- Manufacturing method: 3D printed
- Package size: approximately 6.5 × 3.7 × 1.6 in
- Contents: six reusable stencil pieces: one W-shape stencil, one channel stencil, one angle stencil, one structural linework and detail stencil, and two dashed-line guides
- Reusable: designed for repeated hand-drafting use
Because the components are 3D printed, minor variations in layer appearance, surface texture, finish, or color may occur. These are normal characteristics of the manufacturing process and do not affect the intended function of the drafting set.
Important drafting note
The stencil is a drafting aid. Traced shapes are simplified graphic representations and are not dimensionally exact reproductions of manufactured structural sections. Flange, web, and angle-leg thicknesses are intentionally represented graphically so that they remain visible and legible on paper. Channel shapes use representative flange geometry rather than reproducing the exact proportions of every rolled section.
Always identify the actual structural member using its complete written designation, dimensions, notes, and applicable design documents. Do not determine member dimensions or section properties by measuring a traced outline.
